Useful things belong in useful hands.
The Milena Chapter connects books, food, technology and other community resources with people across Richmond who can use them.
A Richmond nonprofit supported by Abi's Books & Brews and the community around us.

Rewind for a Reason
Two boomboxes. A whole lot of cassette tapes. One community cause. $5 a ticket supports the community fridge enclosure at Abi's Books & Brews.
Drawing Sunday, November 1, 2026 at 6:00 PM EST. You do not have to be present to win.
Pledge care for your neighbors.
We're building a network of Richmond dental practices that each donate a set amount of care every month or quarter, matched with neighbors who need it. One cleaning, two exams, an hour of chair time: whatever you can spare.
Here's how you can help.
A live list of what we actually need this week. Pick one.
We need phones
Working smartphones can help someone apply for work, stay in touch with family, access benefits and navigate everyday life.
Stock the fridge
Bring appropriate, ready-to-eat food directly to the community fridge outside Abi's Books & Brews.
Give us your old laptop
We'll evaluate it, securely wipe it, refurbish it when practical and put it back into service.
Donate books
Help us keep books moving through Richmond. Children's books especially.
We take resources our community has and help get them to people who need them.

Community Fridge
We host one of the RVA Community Fridges outside of Abi's Books & Brews. It's there for anyone, any time. No sign-up, no questions.
- • Open 24/7. Take what you need, leave what you can
- • Bring sealed, ready-to-eat food that doesn't need cooking
- • No registration or qualifications to use it

Books & Coffee in the Community
We bring free books and coffee into schools, shelters, neighborhood events and community spaces across Richmond.

Digital Access
We collect used laptops, phones and tablets, wipe them, fix them when we can, and get them to people who need them, especially people experiencing homelessness.
We can try to help.
Food, books, a phone, a laptop, or just a pointer to the right Richmond resource. Tell us what you need. No address required, no proof of anything.
The Milena Chapter grew from the community surrounding Abi's Books & Brews in Richmond. The café gives us a physical gathering point, a place to collect resources, and a community of people who continually find ways to help one another.
